Club Notes 09/05/2011

Adult Football
Our Senior team continued their good run of form by picking up another two points away to Cookstown on Sunday. Final Score: Cookstown 0-03, Eglish 1-07.

The Reserve team also recorded back to back wins as they defeated Cookstown in the opening game. Final Score: Cookstown 1-10, Eglish 1-11.

This Sunday Eglish are away to Dromore. Please note match times for this game have changed and are now Reserve 6.00pm and Senior 7.30pm. Other fixtures to follow are: Sunday 22nd May away v Derrylaughan, Saturday 28th May home v Clonoe, Wednesday 8th June home v Ardboe, Sunday 12th June home v Errigal Ciaran.

Minor Football
Our Minors bowed out of the Grade 1 Championship last week when they were beaten by Cookstown in the first round. Final Score: Cookstown 2-09, Eglish 1-07.

They were also beaten away to Pomeroy in the Grade 1 League. Final Score Pomeroy 2-12, Eglish 0-06.

The Minors next game is another League fixture, this time at home to Donaghmore this Wednesday evening, 11th May, at 8.00pm.

Under 16 Football
Fixtures for the Under 16 League have been announced with Eglish to play Clonoe at home in the first game on Thursday 23rd June.

Under 14 Football
Our Under 14’s also exited their championship last week when they were defeated by a stronger Dromore side in the Grade 1 Championship. However they had a good win over Cappagh (Killyclogher) last Saturday in the Grade 1 League. Final Score Eglish 5-06 Cappagh 3-09.

Under 12 Football
Our Under 12’s will be competing in a few local tournaments in the next few weeks. First up is Moy Tournament being held on Saturday 28th May, followed by Galbally Tournament on Saturday 4th June. All players and parents are to stay in contact with the Under 12 management.

Under 8 Go Games Blitz
Thanks to all who helped and participated in the Under 8’s Go Games Blitz held last Saturday in Derrytresk. The next Under 8’s Blitz is scheduled for Saturday 4th June and will be hosted by Brocagh.

Training for U6, U8 and U10 Squads
Training continues on Thursday evenings, starting at 6.00pm and will finish at 7.00pm. Parents are reminded that all players must be registered in order to take part. Registration forms will be made available before training.

Club Lotto
Winning Lotto numbers for Monday 2nd May were 5, 6, 9 and 17. There were seven Match 3 winners: Deirdre Hamill, Patricia Small, Frances Daly, Martin McCann, Eoghan Donnelly, Curtis McMenemy and Gerard and Karol Donnelly. Lotto Jackpot for Monday 9th May is £2,600.

Last Man Standing Competition
The recent Last Man Standing Competition for Tyrone Division 2 League came to a finish at the weekend with the jackpot being shared between Vincent Daly and Gregory Jordan. Thanks to all those who took part.

Local News
Best of luck to Peter McCann and Stephen Daly who are representing Eglish in the Stars In Their Eyes Competition being hosted by the Tyrone Camogie Board in Quinn’s Corner on Friday 27th May.

Pairc Chormaic: Open Meeting for all Club Members & Supporters
As you may be already aware Eglish GAC has decided to run with a ‘Fundraising Draw’ within the next few weeks. It is hoped that this course of action will help greatly towards the cost of ‘Pairc Chormaic’ which will be in use by early next year.

The club is grateful to all those who have put their names forward to sell tickets or help in any capacity.

Gerard Treacy, who has been involved in ventures of a similar nature, will be coming to Eglish GAC on Tuesday 10th May 2011 at 8.30pm to explain its workings in detail.

It is important that as many club members as possible make this meeting to help deliver a successful ticket selling campaign.

If you are aware of others who may like to be involved in this venture please let us know.

EGLISH ST. PATRICK’S CAMOGIE CLUB NOTES

Senior Results & Fixtures
The Senior team had a great victory last week when they defeated Antrim champions Rossa in the Ulster league. This was an excellent win for the girls. Final Score: Eglish 8-16 Rossa 1-05.

Forthcoming fixtures are as follows:
Ulster League: Wednesday 11th May, Leitrim V Eglish (away)
Derry League: Friday 13th May, 7.30pm, Eoghan Rua V Eglish (home)
Derry League: Monday 16th May, Lavey V Eglish (away)
Ulster League: Wednesday 18th May, Eglish V Clonduff (home)

Underage Results & Fixtures
Underage training will recommence this Saturday 14th May from 10-11am. The first of the Go Game Blitz for Under 10’s, Under 8’s and Under 6’s will be hosted by Eglish on Saturday 21st May.

On Monday 16th May Eglish play Fr Shields at home in the Under 14 League.

The minor team were defeated last Tuesday evening in the League by Dungannon.

County News
Tyrone Camogie in association with PAP Promotions Ltd are hosting “STARS IN THEIR EYES” in Quinn’s Corner on Friday 27th May at 8.30pm, cost £10.00. Tickets are on Sale for this Fundraiser and can be purchased from any committee member. Local lads Peter McCann and Stephen Daly will be representing Eglish, all support welcome.
