Football Club Notes 07/05/2012

Adult Football

Our Senior team took on the current Tyrone Championship and League holders, Dromore, last Sunday at home.  Our players gave a great account of themselves but unfortunately fell short at the final whistle. Final score Eglish 1-06, Dromore 1-10.

Our Reserves were also in action but suffered defeat also.  Final score Eglish 1-05, Dromore 2-14.

The next Adult League fixture is away to Donaghmore this Sunday, 13th May.  Reserves at 2.15pm and Seniors at 3.45pm.

The next few fixtures to follow that game are as follows: Sunday 20th May, away v Errigal Ciaran; Sunday 27th May, home v Carrickmore (N.B. this game will mark the official opening of Páirc Chormaic); Sunday 3rd June, home v Greencastle; Sunday 17th June, away v Clonoe; Sunday 24thJune, home v Kildress.  All start times are Reserve at 2.15pm and Senior at 3.45pm, except for Carrickmore game.

Under 18 (Minor) Football

The Minors had a good win in the first round of the Grade 2A Minor Championship.  They defeated Beragh by 2-14 to 0-08 and will play Moortown in the quarter-final in Eglish.  This game is scheduled to be played on Wednesday 1st August at 7.30pm.

Moortown are also the opposition this Wednesday evening, 9th May, when our Minors are back in League action.  This game is in Fr. Connolly Park, Eglish at 7.15pm.

The next few fixtures after that are as follows: Friday 18th May at 6.45pm, away v Derrylaughan; Friday 25th May at 7.30pm, away v Moy.

Under 16 Football

Our Under 16’s travelled to Stewartstown last Saturday for a Grade 1A League game.  The lads played well but were beaten.

The next few fixtures for the Under 16’s are as follows: Saturday 12th May at 4pm, at home v Coalisland; Saturday 2nd June at 4pm, away v Clonoe; Tuesday 19th June at 7.30pm, at home v Pomeroy.

Under 14 Football

The Under 14’s begin their league campaign in Grade 3A this Tuesday evening, 8th May at 7.15pm, with an away game against Moy.  This is followed by a home game v Naomh Mhuire (Edendork and Killyman amalgamation) on Monday 14th May at 7.30pm.

Under 10’s, 8’s & 6’s Football

Coaching for Under 6’s and Under 8’s is on-going on Thursday evenings, from 6pm to 7pm.  It will continue at this time on Thursday evenings for the remainder of the season.

Coaching for Under 10’s is on Saturday mornings from 10am to 11.15am. Everyone welcome.

Páirc Chormaic – Official Opening

The countdown is on for the official opening of Páirc Chormaic on Sunday 27th May.  Thanks to all who have helped and contributed with preparations at the new grounds.  Work is continuing for getting the grounds ready for the games that weekend and any additional help will be appreciated.

The official opening promises to be a great and memorable occasion for all associated with our club and we hope to see good support over the next coming weeks.

Celebrations will begin with a Ceili in the Sports Hall on Friday 25th May, starting at 9.30pm, with Music by the popular Gold Ring Ceili Band.

On Saturday 26th May the Annual Cormac Trust 10K Race & 3K Fun Run will take place, registration can be completed online atwww.thecormactrust.com or from 11am that morning.  Race starts at 12midday.

An underage Camogie Blitz will also be held that Saturday morning from 9.30am, with all Tyrone Camogie clubs participating.

On Sunday 27th there will be a full day of events.  First to take the field that day will be our local Camogie club when they play Portglenone in a challenge match.  This will be followed by our Reserve and Senior football teams playing Carrickmore in the Tyrone Division 1 League.  The blessing and official opening will be carried out between the Camogie and Reserve games.  The youth of our parish will also be represented with a host of mini games during the intervals between each match.

Some of the special guests who will be in attendance at the opening include Ciaran McLaughlin (Tyrone GAA Chairman) and Aogan Ó Fearghail (Ulster GAA President).

The following Saturday, 2nd June, will see our Sports Hall being the venue for our Gala Banquet Dinner, at which the winning tickets for our Fundraising Draw will be drew.  Further details will follow.

Club Lotto

The Lotto result for Monday 30th April was as follows: winning numbers were 5, 8, 13 and 20.  There was one ‘Match 3’ winner; Turlough Muldoon.  The next Lotto draw will be held on Monday 7th May, Jackpot is £4,950.

Tyrone Summer Camp Coaches Required

Gaelic League Gaeltacht Scholarships

Could any boy or girl attending a Gaeltacht summer course and who wishes to receive funding towards same, please forward their name to Siobhan Hughes (07879437710) before Saturday 12th May.

Gym Circuits

Male and Female Adult Gym Circuits are being held in the Sports Hall Gym on Wednesday evenings.  Please note the new start time of 7.30pm for these circuits.  Everyone welcome.

Sympathy

The club extends its sympathy to the Casey family (Granville) and Hughes family (Blackwatertown) on their recent bereavements.
