Seniors
Well done to the Seniors in overcoming Greencastle in the first round of the Senior Championship at the weekend. Under lights in Healy Park Omagh the first half wasn’t pretty with lots of mistakes from both sides, the teams went in at the break all square with three scores each 0-3 to 0-3, Eglish scores coming from Peter McCann, Brendan Donnelly and Sean McKillion.
The game immediately sprung to life with a Gregory Jordan goal two minutes after the restart and a further three points in quick succession from Peter McCann, Conor McKenna and Ryan McKenna put six points between the teams 1-6 to 0-3. Greencastle had their purple patch and were able to narrow the gap to two points on fifty one minutes at 1-9 to 0-8. Eglish were able to regain that six point advantage with a big score from Peter McCann, followed by a ball delivered into the square by Brendan Donnelly with Damien Jordan finishing to the net with his fist to leave it 2-9 to 0-9. Eglish saw out the last seven minutes with Emmet McKenna tagging on Eglishs last score for a comfortable five point victory 2-10 to 0-11.
Eglish have drawn the winners of Clonoe v Omagh in the Quarter Finals.
