Camogie Club Notes

Bazaar Bingo

Our annual Bazaar Bingo takes place on Friday 6th December in the parochial hall. With many great prizes on offer, this is a night not to be missed! The camogie girls will be out around the parish in the coming week selling raffle tickets. Please do what you can to support the club.

Tyrone County Presentation night

Last Friday, the Tyrone County Camogs held their awards night in Quinn’s Corner. This was a great evening of celebration for all young county camogs. Many of our club girls who played for Tyrone U14 & U16 this past two years attended on the night. Pat Darcy Chairperson of Tyrone camogie had inspiring words for all young camogs encouraging them to start to take responsibility for themselves and always strive to reach their full potential.

Shauna Jordan, Frances Bigley & Gareth Fox had the honor of presenting the awards. Leanne Donnelly was presented with a Tyrone shirt in recognition of captaining the U14 team who won Ulster this year and Catherine Muldoon was deservedly awarded player of the year.  Aine McElroy received a Tyrone shirt as she captained the U16 team in 2012 with Meabh McGleenan picking up a much deserved player of the year accolade.

Frances Begley was the lucky winner of a Tyrone shirt and Shauna Jordan won much needed new Tyrone socks!

Eglish Camogie Club wishes to express their thanks to Martin Donnelly who spearheaded this event and was host for the evening. Also thanks to Fionnuala, Bernie, Gareth, Frances and Martin for taking such an interest in youth camogie in Tyrone this past two years.  Judging by Friday night we have plenty more of great nights like this to look forward to in the coming years.

Congratulations

Huge congratulations from the entire club goes to Shauna Jordan who was awarded the Ulster Intermediate Player or the Year at the 2013 NWP Recycling Ulster Camogie Awards in Kelly’s Inn on Saturday 23rd November. This is a much deserved honor for a very talented player who has given so much to inter-county camogie. And indeed, Tyrone camogie supporters across the province breathed a sigh of relief when Austin O’Callaghan broached the subject of retiring from the inter-county game, and Shauna denied all rumors.

Teamtalk Awards

All roads this Friday night lead to the Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran where the annual Team Talk awards will take place. This year we have three players from our club up for awards. Shauna Jordan and Ciara McGready competing against each other in the Senior Camogie Player of the Year category and Niamh McNulty up for the Minor award. Good luck to all the girls, fingers crossed!

Tyrone Quiz

This Sunday evening the Tyrone County Board have organized a Pub Quiz in McAleers Bar in Dungannon at 5pm. Admission is £5 per person and all proceeds go to the Senior Camogie Players fund. If you’re around, please call in and support this event.
