“Miss” Eglish
This is it! The final run up to the crowing of this year’s “Miss Eglish” on Saturday 14th March in the Sports Hall.
Event organisers’ have had a hectic few weeks preparing for this notorious event! Head of the cleaning team Brenda Horsfield said, “I just love the buzz of preparing for a big occasion; brushing, mopping, dusting, I’ve been at it for two weeks now! I guess cleaning the toilets is my favorite though! Other’s want to help, but I prefer to do it all myself!”
However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing with the event committee, perhaps due to the stress of such a glamourous affair happening in the community. In fact, it almost came to blows on Saturday morning when Design team member Ursula Jordan bundled a few of her associates into her car for a quick spin from the hall to the bottom of Stilloga Hill and back again, coincidently driving by a beautiful wedding party on route! When the design team reentered the hall, Creative Director Anne Burke, who was caught in a web of sequins, was less than impressed and made her grievances known to ringleader Ursula, insinuating that she wasn’t going for string and was actually just being nosy! We caught up with Anne a few hours later and she commented, “I’ve had my suspicions for a while now, but today just proved that Ursula doesn’t really care much for the Camogie Club. She never helps out; sure she spends 11 out of 12 months in Spain!” We tried to catch up with Ursula for her response but we were unable to get her due to her having jetted off to Spain on Saturday afternoon.
This small hiccup hasn’t affected our finalists in anyway as we’ve been told they have upped their beauty and gym routines this week for the final few days! One contestant told us they are following a strict diet of only, “water and air” this week to ensure they can fit into their glitzy dress!
Keep up to date with the final preparations on our Facebook page!
