Camogie Club Notes

Derry League

The seniors experienced a bit of a setback last Friday when they met an experienced Slaughneil team. A youthful Eglish side struggled to contest with the physical and skillful Derry side. However despite the final scoreline heavily in Slaughneil’s favour, Eglish displayed some great passages of play, something that can be worked on in the year ahead. Final score; 5-10 ; 2-06

U16 League

The U16 league continues this Wednesday when the Eglish girls face one of their biggest challenges against neighbors’ and rivals, Dungannon. The game is scheduled for 6.45pm throw in in Killyman and all support is welcomed for what should be an exciting and keenly contested tie.

Ulster Feile

The Eglish Feile team travelled to Graemore last Sunday to take part in their section of the Ulster Feile. They were entered into Group D along with St. John’s Belfast, Dungiven and Derrynoose. After winning all their group games, they advanced to the Cup semifinal where they faced hosts Graemore beating them 3-02 ; 2-0. Eglish met St. John’s in the final and after already playing them in the group stages they knew exactly what they were up against and made short work of the game, winning 3-02 to no score. Captain Emma Muldoon proudly collected the Cup. Congratulations to the entire team who gave of their all in every game and got the result they worked hard for. Also well done and thanks to the management and mentors who went with the team and to the parents that travelled to support the girls.

Post Primary League

The Post Primary side have gotten off to winning ways with two out of two games won so far. On Saturday they showed strength and skill against an inexperienced Derrylaughan side followed by an impressive display on Monday against Dungannon running out easy winners on both occasions. Well done to all involved!
