EGLISH CAMOGIE NOTES – 12/04/16

Anniversary Gala Ball

The camogie club celebrated their Golden Anniversary on Saturday night with a Gala Ball in the Hillgrove Monaghan along with the football club who celebrated their 60 years. It was wonderful to see so many past and present players and former managers together in the same room!

The entire camogie club would like to thank Kelley Fay who spoke on behalf of the Camogs on the night and did so with great pride and passion, giving us a trip down memory lane before bringing us back to present day club proceedings.

Congratulations to the members of the Ulster winning teams of 1985, 86, 87 and 1991 who were presented on the night with an award in recognition of their past achievements.

This fittingly led on to the presentation of our current senior team who are the reigning Intermediate Ulster champions and the girls were brought on stage to accept their medals.

Congratulations to Ciara McGready who was presented with the Charlie McKay Cup for Senior Player of the Year.

Finally, Richard Mason took to the stage to close the Camogie proceedings leaving the crowd in fits of laughter with a terrifically penned poem, “The Camogie Widower”.

Special thanks must be made to Mairead Mason who put in hours of work and effort behind the scenes to make the night happen!

Post Primary

Well done to the post primary team on their win against neighbour’s Dungannon on Friday night making it 2/2 so far in the league!

U16 League

Derry League

The 2016 Derry League campaign begins this Thursday in Father Connolly when the seniors play host to Lavey. Throw in at 7pm.

Membership

Club membership is now due and must be paid in the next couple of weeks to meet the submission deadline. Senior Players – £35, Students £25, Non-playing members and U18s, £20.

Tiny Tots Training

Tiny tots training begins this Saturday 16th April 10am – 11am at Father Connolly pitch and will continue every Saturday until September with Go Game Blitzes once a month. This training is geared towards girls from P1 to U10. Any P1s wishing to come along to training must be accompanied by a guardian for the entire hour. We would love is any other parents or guardians would be willing to come on board and help out this year as we have large numbers and additional help is hugely beneficial!

Please remember that girls must come appropriately dressed for the weather.

Sticks and helmets will be provided but we would encourage girls to buy their own stick to aid their own development.

Sympathy

The Club extends their deepest sympathy to senior players and coaches Kelley Fay and Leona Gallagher and to the wider Fay family on the recent passing of Gerard McGleenan.
