Clean Sweep of Tyrone titles!
September has been a busy month so far for the club collecting three titles in just two weeks!
Senior, U18 and U14 championships have now been added to the cabinet along with the U16 and Post Primary championship silverware!
This is a record breaking year and an achievement that the Club is extremely proud of. This success does not come without effort and determination and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate each and every player and also to commend them on their attitude and commitment whilst representing Eglish Camogie Club this year.
The Club would also like to pay a special mention to all the mentors and coaches over the teams this year who nurture and develop the talent of our young camogs whilst also maintaining a fun, social environment for the players. As an amateur association, we are indebted to those individuals who volunteer and give of their time so willingly and 2015’s “Clean Sweep” of titles is testament of their tremendous efforts.
Senior Champions
In wet conditions on Sunday afternoon in Donaghmore, the seniors took on Derrylaughan in the Senior Plate final. Derrylaughan got off to a blistering start going two up before Shauna Jordan was awarded a penalty and Ciara Donnelly casually converted with a rocket to the back of the net. Whilst the game continued nip and tuck, Eglish lead at half time 1-03, 2-05.
In the second half, Eglish’s intensity was clear from the throw in racking up 2-12 in the 30 minutes and running out comfortable winners. Final score 1-04, 4-17, Ciara Donnelly accounting for 2-10 of those scores – a terrific personal contribution!
U18 Champions
On Friday 11th September, in another wet affair, the Eglish minors were crowned U18 Championship winners with a terrific display against a talented Edendork side. Final score; 6-07, 2-03.
Well done to the entire team and mentors – a brilliant achievement!
Congratulations to captain Laura Mason who collected the cup and Megan Vincent who was deservedly awarded player of the match!
U14 Champions
Monday 7th September, the U14s played Edendork in the hotly anticipated championship final. Both teams battled ferociously in the first half with Eglish not too far ahead at half time, 2-2, 1-0.
The second half however was more one sided with the Eglish girls putting on an exhibition of skill in front of the admiring crowd and causing havoc in front of goals! Final score, 7-04, 1-0.
Congratulations to the team and coaches and captain Emma Muldoon who collected the Championship trophy.
Go Games – Eglish
This Saturday, 26th September, the final Go Games Blitz of the year will take place in Fr Connolly Park, Eglish. The blitz will run from 10am – 12pm and we would encourage as many parents/guardians as possible to stay for the duration to show your support to the kids!
