Camogie Club Notes

Derry League

This Wednesday, the seniors are away to Slaughtneil in what will probably be their biggest challenge so far. Like Eglish, Slaughneil have been undefeated so far in the league therefore both teams will be doing their upmost to get a victory and go top of the table.

U14

The U14s had a strong win over Eire Og last Thursday evening, retaining their unbeaten stance in this year’s league. Well done!

Post Primary

On Monday night the post primary team battled excellently against a good Dungannon side in the semifinal of the championship scoring 8-2 and keeping Dungannon scoreless! They now advance to the final on the 23rd June.

This Friday the girls are back in league action when they are away to Eire Og. The following Monday, 9th June, they face Dungannon again in the league in Pairc Cormac. Match details and arrangements will be given to the players at training.

Tiny Tots Blitz

Last Saturday, Eglish hosted the underage blitz on what was a wonderful morning of camogie in the warm sunshine! In total, 9 clubs from across the county took part. The camogie club would like to thank Leona for organising this blitz and as always, ensuring it ran smoothly. Also special thanks to everyone who helped out and refereed.

Underage training

U14 and Post Primary training continues as normal on Saturday, 10am – 11.30am.

Tiny Tots training continues on Saturday mornings from 10am – 11am.

All underage players are recommended to take their own stick and are also advised to wear shin pads.

River Bank Dance Festival Thanks

The River Bank Dance Festival is over for another year and the Camogie Club would like to pay a special thanks to all of our members who helped out so diligently during the numerous events. Thanks also to those patrons who came along and supported all the festivities.

Well Done

Congratulations to the senior men who defeated Donaghmore in the first round of the championship last Friday night booking themselves a place in the quarter final!

County News

The Tyrone seniors travelled to Pairc Esler in Newry on Sunday to play Cavan in the Ulster Intermediate Championship final in what turned out to be a nail-biting encounter. Cavan scored a goal to leave them one ahead at the end of normal time but the Tyrone girls composed themselves and fired over a terrific point in injury time to seal a draw.

The replay is provisionally fixed for Sunday 15th June with venue and time to be confirmed.

In other county news, every club in the county will take part in the annual mountain climb this Sunday to help raise funds for Tyrone Camogie. This year’s challenge is Slemish, the first know home of St. Patrick in Ireland. There may be a few walkers hoping that St. Patrick will send them some divine inspiration to help them up it!!

Sympathies

The Camogie Club extends its deepest sympathy to U16 Coach and committee member Gareth Fox and his family on the passing of his father Eugene Fox.
