The expertise of our former player and current underage coach, Matt McGleenan, is being utilised also by our neighbours in County Monaghan as their minor side secured a place in the Ulster Final last Sunday. The Farney county booked their place in the Clones showpiece after defeating Down 0-11 to 0-08 at the Morgan Athletic Grounds in Armagh.
Tyrone still have to play their Ulster Minor Semi-Final against Derry this weekend, but the county is guaranteed to have some representation in the provincial final in July with Matt’s involvement with Monaghan.
Interestingly, the Tyrone Minors are managed by Aghaloo clubman and Eglish senior manager, Mickey Donnelly, with Eglish’s youth coach Kevin Hughes providing coaching assistance, Kelley Fay in the backroom team and underage player Conor McKenna being on the panel. It all makes for an interesting few weeks if Tyrone progress and are to meet Monaghan in the final; it’s sure to have a lot of local interest at least.
Best of luck to all those involved!
