The Scotstown GAA club are hosting the second annual charity 5-mile run on Saturday, August 4th at Páirc Mhuire, Scotstown, Co. Monaghan starting at 4.30pm. The inaugural run took place last year as a way of remembering two former Scotstown Gaels, Seán Hegarty and Raymond “Ned” Boylan who had died in the previous year. Since last year, a number of other people with strong connections to our club have passed away including our former coach Paul Hughes. As Paul was involved with Eglish and Galbally, we would like to extend an invitation to members of both clubs to participate in the run, either as individuals or as part of a team. Participants are welcome to wear their club colours if they wish.
Registration will take place this Saturday from 10am-5pm in Monaghan Shopping Centre; on Friday, August 3rd from 7.30-9.30pm at Scotstown GAA grounds; and from 2pm on the day of the run at Scotstown. Entry forms can also be returned to Scotstown Post Office. All proceeds from the run will go to the two nominated charities – the Irish Heart Foundation and Monaghan Hospice Home Care. Last years run raised approximately €11,000 which was divided between the charities.
