EGLISH CAMOGIE NOTES – 09/05/16

Derry League

Friday 13th May, Eglish are at home to Ballinderry at 7.30pm. After a tough encounter in a friendly during preseason, this game could potentially come down to the wire.

The Coleraine game scheduled for Friday 6th May has been provisionally fixed for Sunday 15th May – time to be confirmed.

U16 League

The U16 Championship semifinal was unfortunately called off at extremely late notice last Friday evening. Game is to be replayed this Tuesday evening at 6pm in Father Connolly pitch. Girls are asked to be there for 5.30pm. If successful, the final against Fr Shields, is due to take place on Friday 13th, time and venue to be confirmed.

Tyrone Feile Champions

Congratulations to the Eglish Feile team who won the Tyrone Feile Cup in Derrylaughan on Sunday 1st May, securing their place in the All Ireland Feile in Tipperary in June. Well done girls!

Post Primary League

The post primary team continues their unbeaten run with their latest league win over Derrytresk. They are away to Brocagh on Monday 9th May.

Tiny Tots

Last Saturday our U8’s and U10’s travelled to Garvaghey for the first time to take part in the development blitz. Despite the miserable conditions, the girls played excellently, even recording a few victories against some hurling clubs! Going forward, the U8s and U10s will attend this blitz on the first Saturday of each month. (Please note, on this first Saturday – there will be NO training for U6).

Normal training for all resumes this Saturday 10am – 11am at Father Connolly pitch. This training is geared towards girls from P1 to U10. Any P1s wishing to come along to training must be accompanied by a guardian for the entire hour. We would love is any other parents or guardians would be willing to come on board and help out this year as we have large numbers and additional help is hugely beneficial!

Please remember that girls must come appropriately dressed for the weather. Don’t be fooled by the sunshine – it really can get quite cold, especially for little fingers! Gloves/hand warmers are highly recommended!

Sticks and helmets will be provided but we would encourage girls to buy their own stick to aid their own development. Sticks can be bought from the club for a cost of £5. Please get in touch with any of the

coaches on Saturday morning if you would like to order one.

Eglish will host the first “GO GAMES” Blitz of the year on Saturday 28th May.

Membership

Club membership is now due and must be paid in the next couple of weeks to meet the submission deadline. Senior Players – £35, Students £25, Non-playing members and U18s, £20.

Defibrillator Course

A defibrillator course is scheduled to take place in the club rooms this Thursday 12th May at 7.30pm. Even if you have completed this training before, it is vital you attend and treat it as a refresher course.

Football Feile Champs

Congratulations to the four girls from the club that are dual Feile winners this year. After securing the camogie Feile last week, Regan Fay, Aisling Bigley, Francine Farley and Assanato Embalo claimed the Division 1 title against Carrickmore on Sunday evening past. Well done girls – terrific achievement!

Armagh Camogie – All Ireland League Champs

Congratulations to Armagh on their terrific All Ireland Division 3 League win which sets them up nicely for their championship campaign. A special well done to our club members Ciara (Captain) and Leanne Donnelly, and to their manager, (our former manager), Jim McCormick.
