Derry League
The seniors had a double fixture at the weekend with a game Friday evening and another Sunday morning. On Friday, the girls played Ballinderry at home in what turned out to be a very exciting, score for score, encounter; neither team knowing who had won at the final whistle! Deservedly, Eglish were awarded a 2 point win!
Sunday morning saw a very early start for the seniors with throw in in Eoghan Rua at 9am! The early start proved to be rewarding for the girls as a hungry Eglish side led from the off and never looked back. Final score 2-11, 1-05.
The Swatragh game due to take place on Friday 20th has been postponed to a later date. The next league game is away to Bellaghy on Friday 27th May.
U16 Championship
The postponed Championship Semi-Final against Dungannon took place last Tuesday evening at Fr Connolly pitch. In blissful weather, both teams provided an exhibition of camogie exchanging scores for the majority of the first half.
In the second half, Eglish began to pull away with Emma Muldoon, Catherine Muldoon and Dearbhla O’Faolain all hitting the net at least once. Terrific performances from the entire team including Casey Gallagher who worked endlessly in midfield. Well done girls!
The final against Fr. Shields has been confirmed for this Sunday 22nd May in Edendork at 6pm. Please come along to support! We wish the entire team and mentors the very best of luck!
Post Primary Action
Last Monday, the post primary girls recorded another win against Brocagh – well done girls!
This week, their focus turns to championship where they take on Dungannon in the preliminary round. Game in Fr Connolly on Wednesday at 6.30pm. This has all the ingredients to be a super exciting game, please come out to support!
Tiny Tots
Normal training for all continues this Saturday 10am – 11am at Father Connolly pitch. This training is geared towards girls from P1 to U10. Any P1s wishing to come along to training must be accompanied by a guardian for the entire hour. We would love is any other parents or guardians would be willing to come on board and help out this year as we have large numbers and additional help is hugely beneficial!
Last Saturday we had beautiful sunny, warm weather for training but please keep an eye on this week’s forecast and send girls suitably dressed for the elements. If it’s cold – layers and gloves are highly recommended!
Sticks and helmets will be provided but we would encourage girls to buy their own stick to aid their own development. Sticks can be bought from the club for a cost of £5. Please get in touch with any of the coaches on Saturday morning if you would like to order one.
Eglish will host the first “GO GAMES” Blitz of the year on Saturday 28th May. Information will be given to players at training this week.
Membership
Club membership is now due and must be paid in the next couple of weeks to meet the submission deadline. Senior Players – £35, Students £25, Non-playing members and U18s, £20.
Referee Course
A refereeing course is scheduled to take place on Saturday 28th May at 1pm in Eglish. If you would like to book on to this course, please contact any of the camogie committee.
