Fr Connolly Park 50 years old
The weekend marked the official re-opening of Fr Connolly Park after being closed for a year for much needed refurbishment. This re-opening was particularly significant, marking
50 years of Fr Connolly Park. The field, which cost a sum of £490 was purchased from then club treasurer Joe Barrett. It was christened Fr. Connolly Park in memory of a former Parish Priest, and was officially opened in May 1964 with a challenge game between Tír Eoghain and Ard Mhacha in which Eglish’s Terry Daly played for Tír Eoghain.
The re-opening on Sunday coincided with the Seniors league game with Augher. Pre-ceding the game in front of a large crowd, Fr Toner blessed the field which is now in immaculate condition.
