Presentation Night
Last Friday evening we held our annual presentation night in Quinn’s Corner to celebrate the huge success we had as a club in 2014. Chairperson Catherine Farley began by welcoming everyone to what was a very special year for the Camogie Club having won every county championship at all age levels and paid thanks to our main sponsor Micky McVeigh Kitchens.
Catherine also thanked the club referees, all of the coaches involved in the various age groups, the committee members and those who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Special thanks was given to all the camogs who continue to represent Eglish Camogie Club so highly both on and off the field and also to the underage camogs’ parents who continue to help the club and support their children.
To mark such a special year of achievements, every underage player, to their delight, received a surprise new Eglish Kit bag. Each bag was very kindly donated by Eglish Baking Co. and Kevin and Nicola Gildernew presented the bags over to youth officer Claire Jordan. The club would like to take this opportunity once more to thank Kevin and Nicola of Eglish Baking Co. for their sincere generosity.
Special guest on the night was Katy McAnenley who made the underage presentations. Catherine welcomed Katy up to the stage and spoke at length about her illustrious and decorated playing career and her huge commitment to the sport. She has reaped rewards for her dedication and is a true ambassador for the sport and an inspiration for all the young camogs who listened to her speak on Friday night.
The joint post primary Captains Casey Gallagher and Catherine Muldoon received the county league and championship cups. Catherine picked up the Player of the Year award, Casey collected the Most Promising Post Primary player trophy and Laoise Toye was presented with the Coaches Award.
Megan Vincent collected the U14 Championship cup along with the Player of the Year award. Amy Barrett received the Coaches Award and Leanne Donnelly was presented with U14 Most Promising Player trophy.
U16 Captain Alanna Muldoon was presented with the U16 Championship Cup and also received U16 Player of the Year. Jordan Fay collected the Coaches Award and Shelley McVeigh received the Most Promising U16 Player.
Niamh McNulty, the minor Captain collected the U18 League and Championship trophies as well as joint Player of the Year along with Aisling Donnelly. Coaches Award went to Caoimhe Goodfellow.
The Senior Player of the Year as chosen by the senior players was presented by senior manager Jim McCormick and awarded to Shauna Jordan. This finishes off a great year of awards for Shauna and was very well deserved.
This year’s Club Person of the Year was presented to Frankie Bigley which reflected her commitment, dedication and all round enthusiasm towards the club this year – congratulations!
Finally bouquets of flowers were awarded to Debbie McCormick and Kyna Fay, wives of senior managers Jim and Barry, in appreciation of their tolerance for the amount of time their husbands spend out of the house and down on the camogie pitch!
