One of the smallest villages in Ireland is hosting one of this year’s biggest music and dance events with the two biggest names in country music topping the bill in Eglish, Co. Tyrone.

Located outside Dungannon, the village is due to swell with thousands of exuberant dancers expected over the second May bank holiday weekend

On Friday 24th May Derek Ryan and his band open the weekend with his show that is attracting hundreds of followers across the country. The former lead singer of boy band D-Side, now a prolific songwriter, came to prominence with his first self penned song ‘God’s Plan’ and more recently appearing on TG4’s Glor Tire mentoring his brother Adrian. On the road less than two years, Derek who has recorded three albums and a DVD is now firmly established as one of the biggest country artist’s playing to sell out audiences every week.

On Saturday 25th May the stars of the festival are local villagers who trip the light fantastic in a ‘Come Dancing’ extravaganza with ten couples performing everything from tango to jive. Having taken part in weeks of intensive training this is the area’s second dance show with their 2010 ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ selling out for two nights. The show will be hosted by Malachi Cush.

The festival finale on Sunday 26th has Ireland’s number one country star Nathan Carter performing his many hits including the huge selling ’Wagon Wheel’. Nathan is credited with having opened Irish country music to a new young generation of dancers. It is expected that his first visit to the tiny Tyrone village will draw an enormous crowd.

The festival will be hosted in a large modern marquee with ample dancing space and comfort for those attending, providing an ideal venue for this inaugural festival of dance

A grand launch night will take place on Saturday 9th March in the Sports Hall. The stars of ‘Come Dancing Eglish Style’ will be unveiled to those in attendance. Doors open 8.30pm. Admission is free with a disco following the launch.
