Eglish were beaten by 4 points when they travelled to Augher today. Augher made a blistering start and were 1:3 to no score up after 12 minutes. It wasn’t until a minute later Eglish registered their first score through the boot of Brendan Donnelly. Augher struck for goal again on 18 minutes to leave the score 2:3 to 0:2 as they took total control of the game and Eglish struggled to cope with their direct play. Eglish did tag on a further three scores before the break with Brendan Donnelly, Peter Mc Cann contributing to leave half time score 2:4 to 0:5.
Eglish started to get to grips with Augher and it was on 12 minutes when Brendan Donnelly rattled a 20 yard shot to the roof of the net that kick started their revival. That score left only a goal between the teams with scores 2:6 to 1:6. It was all Eglish for the next 15 minutes as they closed the gap to a point with 3 points from Peter McCann and 2 from Connor McKenna to leave the score 2:9 to 1:11 on 29 minutes. Unfortunately Eglish weren’t able to force another score and Augher went up the field and bagged their 3rd goal with the last action of the game, with final score 3:9 to 1:11.
