Mac’s To Play Cormac’s Club in Annual Reunion Game

While the trend in recent years has been for players to move from these shores to Australia, there are also plenty who have returned home from their travels but who wish to keep close ties with the friends they made during their GAA exploits abroad.

It was for that reason that the annual McAnallen’s GAC reunion game came to fruition. This event allows past players from the Cormac McAnallen’s Club in Sydney to join together once again and feel an ongoing attachment to the club despite having returned home. Truly a huge testament to the Clubs existences and growing popularity.

Interstingly the Club vision is “To promote Gaelic Games in Australia and strive for sporting excellence on the field. Whilst creating a family-like environment that is safe, fun and welcoming for everyone.”

This year players will travel from all corners of Ireland in both men & ladies football to play Eglish GAA Club in a challenge game. As many would know Cormac came from Eglish and a new park, Pairc Chormaic just opened late last year. So it’s very fitting that this challenge game are taking place.

There will also be a collection on the day in aid of the The Cormac Trust to help assist them with their ongoing good work. A selection of Club Merchandise will also be on sale at the game.

Club PRO Eamon Eastwood thanked the McAnallens Reunion Sub Committee, in particular Shane Treanor of Dungannon Clarkes, Paddy McCarron of Errigal Ciarán and Pamela McNally of Carrickmore. A big thanks also to Kieran Hagan Chairman of the Eglish Club and his committee for accommodating this event and providing refreshments. Lastly thanks to Mulligans Bar Cookstown where entertainment and refreshments will be provided after the game.

This unique gathering of Gaels should attract a good crowd. It takes place on Saturday 26th January. The Ladies game starts at 1pm while the mens throw in is 2.30pm
