Cormac Ryan is 19 years old and a member of Whitehall Colmcille GAA Club Dublin. Cormac Ryan played for Dublin in the All-Ireland minor hurling final against Galway in September 2011. The following February, Cormac was diagnosed with a rare heart condition which meant he had to be fitted with a pacemaker in his chest. Cormac been told he was very lucky to still be alive. Cormac found the whole experience extremely tough and decided to use his condition in a positive way.
Cormac said ” I now want to use my condition in as positive a way as possible and so on April 5th 2013 myself and four others are Cycling 1100km around the coastline of the country over ten days in aid of The Irish Heart Foundation, CRY(Cardiac Risk in the Young) and the Cormac McAnallen Trust. My goal is to raise over €20,000 for the above named charities. As of last night, Wednesday March 20th we have reached our €20,000 euro target. So now we aim for €25,000. If there is anyway at all that you can help it would be greatly appreciated.”
Cormac and his four friends Stephen Ryan,Kevin Conway,Niall O’ Donnell and Sean Ryan are setting out on the 5th April 2013 on their bikes on an 1100km journey around the country over 10 days.
