Camogie Club Notes

 Senior Camogie

Last Wednesday, the seniors played Leitrim in Garvaghey in the second game of the Ulster League. Another tough game with both sides being strongly matched but unfortunately our girls came up just two points short, final score 3-06 ; 3-04.

On Friday, the girls eventually got off to winning ways in the Derry league when they beat Ballinascreen 3-05- ; 0-09. Another physical game with Eglish, the home side, very much deserving of the win.

No senior games this week. Training continues on Wednesday and Friday at 6.15pm. Again, all minors are encouraged to attend.

Post Primary

The quarter final of the championship takes place next Monday, 6th May in Edendork against Edendork, time to be confirmed. Let’s hope the girls can continue their winning ways. Please come out to support the senior camogs of the future.

U14

The U14 league got underway last Friday night in Dungannon. The game was played in very cold and windy conditions and Dungannon lead at half time after finding the net three times. Eglish had it all to do in the second half playing against the wind and the girls stepped up and brought the game to Dungannon, taking excellent points against the breeze. However, the home side proved too strong and the game finished 6-01- ; 2-05.

Feile

This year’s Tyrone Feile tournament takes place this Sunday 5th May in the new Garvaghey complex from 10am-2pm. All U14 players are asked to keep this date free. More arrangements and details will be given to the players at training.

Youth Training

Minor and U16 training continues this Tuesday, 6pm – 7.15pm.

U14 and Post Primary training continues on Saturdays, 10am – 11.30am.

Tiny Tots training continues this Saturday, 10am – 11.45am. Any parents that can stay to help would be greatly appreciated.

Go Games

The first Go Games Blitz took place in Edendork on Saturday morning and was a huge success. 18 U6’s, 18 U8’s and 13 U10’s attended from Eglish for an excellent morning of Camogie. Many thanks to Edendork for hosting a great day and thanks also to all the coaches and mentors and parents and friends that came to support and watch.

3-Legged Race

This Saturday, all the underage are taking part in a 3-legged race in association with Cootehill Celtic Gaa Club in Cavan. This is an official “Guinness Book of Records” event and will be an attempt to break the world record. At 11.30am on Saturday 4th May, a 100m 3-legged race will be taking place in multiple locations throughout Ireland. Ours will take place in Fr Connolly Park after training with an official in attendance to verify the event. Please can all girls take their completed sponsor card with them on Saturday morning and also remember to bring a scarf/tie with you.

National League Final

Good luck to the Tryone senior team, and all the Eglish girls representing the county, who take on Carlow this Saturday in the National League Final. Time and venue still to be confirmed.

Slieve Donard Climb

In association with the Tyrone Camogie County Board, a number of camogs are taking on the challenge to climb Slieve Donard on 8th June to raise much needed funds for the County and Club. If anyone is interested in taking this challenge on, please give your name Ursula.

Coaches Support Programme

The first session of the Coaches Support Programme will take place in Derrytresk on May 1st at 7.00pm and will be run by Ross Corbett. It will help on practical drills and is open to all club coaches. There will be three further sessions held fortnightly. This has all been set up by County Development Officer Leona Gallagher and all coaches are encouraged to attend. Please let Leona or Ursula know if you wish to attend.
