“Eglish Camogie…………..more than just a game”

St. Patrick’s Camogie Club was founded in 1965 and has been at the centre of Gaelic, sporting and social activities for women and young girls of Eglish parish ever since.  The Club was originally named St. Teresa’s, however, was changed in recent years and now our footballers and camogs share the same name.

The club has enjoyed great success within the county winning over 40 championships and as many league titles. In 1985, 1986, 1987 & 1991 the club won Ulster titles.  In 1991 the camogs played in their first and only All Ireland final only to be beaten by Mullagh of Galway.

Today the club is flourishing and fields teams at Senior, Minor, U16, U14 & U12 levels.  Training is also provided for all other underage players, both girls and boys from three upwards, on a Saturday morning from 10 – 11am.  These children are permitted to participate in’ Go Games.’

This year the Derry County Board has kindly allowed Eglish into their league which is hoped will provide the seniors with plenty of match experience for this year’s championship and for development in the years ahead.  Our club also plays in the Ulster League.

An Eaglais has also been the backbone of the Tyrone County Team over the years and many of our players have represented Ulster.  Eglish girls have also played with their schools and colleges and a few have had the honour to represent Ireland in the Camogie/Shinty Internationals.

We are proud to belong to a great club with great mentors and trainers and new members are always made welcome.
